As Spring approaches, beautiful and brave blooming flowers are finding the tiny cracks in the Earth to move toward the light of the Sun! After resting in the dark unknown of the rich and fertile soil, growing roots and getting stronger, they find the path of least resistance slowly and gently moving toward the light, through the cracks in the Earth, one little step at a time. I find it so inspiring to remember the “cracks” we perceive in ourselves actually invite in even more light.
I love this flower power wisdom by White Eagle:
Flowers do not force their way with great strife. Flowers open to perfection slowly in the sun…. Don’t be in a hurry about spiritual matters. Go step by step, and be very sure.
How can you invite in the light of your body’s wisdom today?
Embodied Meditation Practice:
Imagine you are a flower as a small seed in the depth of the Earth with the abiding, yet hidden, Sun shining above you. As you inhale, allow the breath to fill your body as you imagine this seed slowly awakening and stirring ignited by your smooth and slow inhale. As you exhale, see and feel the roots of the seed unfurling into the fertile ground as you follow your slow exhale out of your body. Notice the current and cadence of your breathing as you continue for several breath cycles.
Each inhale the flower bravely and slowly expands and grows toward the light, each exhale the roots grow deeper and deeper into the darkness. As the strong and determined stem grows toward the light of the Sun, imagine the cracks in the earth resembling the tense areas of your body or constricted thoughts in your brain. As you breathe into these perceived cracks and crevices, imagine the abiding light of your body’s innate intelligence guiding the growth of your flower toward the Sun.
Notice how the flower trusts and follows the path of your breath toward the light of your own wisdom. How might you apply that wisdom to your daily life?
